During the three-day Miami Climate Symposium 2020: Predicting and Living with Extremes, the University convened climate experts to explore the science of predicting and managing local and global risks related to climate change.

The University introduced the interdisciplinary Master of Science in Data Science degree, offering tracks in technical data science, data visualization, smart cities, and marine and atmospheric science.

Pratim Biswas, a pioneer in his field recognized for applying aerosol science and engineering to multiple areas, was appointed dean of the College of Engineering.

The University of Miami Board of Trustees elected new members with expertise in business, finance, law, technology, and strategic planning: Patricia Menendez Cambo, Adam E. Carlin, Carolyn B. Lamm, Jose R. Mas, Alice S. Vilma, and student trustee Jordan Rhodes.
